March Topic – Developing iOS Apps With Swift: A C# Developer’s Perspective
It’s been less than 2 years since Apple surprised us by announcing Swift, a brand new programming language for development on platforms including iOS, OS X and Linux (and later watchOS and tvOS). Since then it has evolved quickly, gone open source and surged in popularity. It will likely run on Windows and Android someday soon.

Why did we need another programming language? In this talk we’ll investigate that question and find out what all the hype is about. We’ll compare Swift to C# and its predecessor at Apple, Objective-C.

Presented By Dan Lamppa
Dan Lamppa has developed software professionally for 20+ years, but his love of computers started long before that. He’s worked on web sites, web services, desktop applications and mobile apps. Dan’s first experience with Mobile development was in 2008 with Windows Mobile 6. He’s focused on mobile development ever since.

Dan has developed primarily in C# since 2002 when .NET 1.0 was released. In the fall of 2015 he began using Swift and Objective C for iOS development.

About the Group
Led by local developers, the Minnesota Enterprise Mobile User Group is a place to come together to share knowledge, experiences, and lessons learned with the development community regarding enterprise mobile development, with a focus on mobile cross-platform application development and the Xamarin toolset.
